No more Vibe, but NYCeTwits endures

No more Vibe, but NYCeTwits endures

As if the death of Michael Jackson doesn’t hurt Quincy Jones enough, it seems that Vibe Magazine is now dead! Known as the premiere magazine for mainstream hip hop, R&B and fashion, they have announced that as of today there will no longer be any printed issues nor will their website, Vibe.com, continue to thrive.

This magazine’s incredible 16-year-run had its covers filled with the likes of almost every major artist, gave birth to the careers of many urban artists, journalists, critics, and entrepreneurs, stylists, and fashionistas. But, despite all of this, the evolution towards news on the web and the recession has left a fatal blow on such a legendary publication. Vibe’s influence is HUGE – and now it is gone.
